The Warriors faced the topcats for the second time in as many weeks with the first game going Brixtons way defeating the warriors on their home court.
Sundays Patrons cup encounter was a very different story with a full Warriors squad, it was almost a one sided affair but for the topcats determination and hunger, the warriors letting a 28pt lead slip to a 7 pt victory. Player/Coach Jr Williams who was absent from the last encounter due to family commitments was instrumental in the victory as he bagged 30pts.
Yannick Bulambwe scored 20pts and an enormous tip dunk that got everyone fired up. Even though the Warriors had a 19 point half time lead assistant coach Nhamo Shire reminded the team of the game the night before when they let a 20pt lead slip but held on to beat Edmonton Storm. So said so done. Brixton went on a 17-4 run that put them within 3 pts before Warriors 'vet' Ola Ogidan stepped up to hit a 3pt shot, followed by a Karolis Stepanavicius layup which silenced the crowd.
After that it became a free throw shoot out with coach jr Williams nailing free throw after free throw to keep the gap as time ran out for the Topcats from Brixton. Westminster finishes first in their group and progresses through to the semi final were they get home court advantage against Mansfield who finished second to Durham.
"I thought we played a decent game for the most part today. We still have a long way to go before we really start to show the potential of this team, but it's a welcomed win for us. We were so far out in front for so long in this one, I never had any doubts about what the result would be. We look forward to Mansfield in the next round" a jubilent Williams said.
Top scorers: Williams 30, Bulambwe 20, Wilkins 10
